Skier Visits

Summit County increased it's share of Colorado skier visits by .5%, going from 29.6% to 30.1%, and eclipsed the 3 million skier mark for the first time. This performance solidified the county's claim as the #1 ski destination in North America.

Skier Characteristics

Skiers are a young, energetic group who come from all over the U.S. and abroad. They are family oriented and almost two thirds come to Colorado by commercial air. Professionals, executives, and managers make up an unusually high percentage of the skier population.

Campers, sightseers, and bikers are also significant contributors to the 4 million visitors to Summit County. Further evidence of increasing importance of non-skier visitors to Summit County, is the greater rate of growth for retail sales in the summer than in the winter.
